Merry New Year 2012::Toast to Me

Okay, let's recap. My immediate family moved to Missouri in May 2011. This was my first time being away from my home. I was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. This is a huge adjustment for me. We have three children. The girls are adjusting well. There have been a few neighborhood bumps but nothing too painful. Chance Jr., on the other hand, is a busy body. He was a busy little bee in the womb and nothing has changed.
Me, well, I am over the house wife role. I do not think anyone feels me. But it is what it is. I lost my grandmother in November. Her health declined so rapidly. The Lord blessed me with the opportunity to tell her goodbye. Just typing this pains me so much. Christmas was so hard for me. I can never call MY birth mother and ask her what I need to use "instead of". If I did, she would say, "call moma and ask her".
Oh yea, speaking of that, Cynthia (my birth mother) got married AFTER my grandmother passed on. This gentleman, according to my mother, is someone she has always known. Ummmm. I have only been gone since May and before I left, she was dated this other gentleman named "Grasshopper". You know what sitting here blogging has given me A GREAT IDEA!!!Hmmm. Just know that my upbringing has got me to where I am today and I AM NOT A PRODUCT OF MY ENVIRONMENT! :)

New Year 2012

A lot has gone on since the last time I posted. I am making a resolution right now. At least once a week, I will post. I will post. I will post. I will post.

July 2011

Since moving to Missouri (the Zoo), we have met a lot of people. July 3rd. We had a block party with the people from the neighborhood. This was an interesting day. Chiane told me about the event but I am not the social butterfly (at first). I have to feel people out. Chiane insisted by getting one of the neighbors, Laura, to write me a letter detailing the event. So I obliged by stating that we will contribute baked beans and juice. The block party went well despite the "military bombs" created by the adult "children". My nice neighbors bought dry ice from the local supermarket and made their rendition of fireworks. They took pieces of dry ice and placed them in a water bottle. They then poured water into the bottle and placed the top back onto the bottle. As the scurried away, the nice bottle blows up and also placed a hole in the area. This was done throughout the night. The night before, Earl, one of the neighbors was excited to explain that every year, they make a rocket bottle peg board. He takes a 4X4 plank board with holes in it and fill the holes with bottle rockets. This dude lit the board with two matches and the bottle rockets flew EVERYWHERE! Other than these and other insane firework tactics, my neighbors are cool.
My girls LOVE the Delgados. Their family consists of three handsome boys and their parents, Laura and Greg. They moved about a month ago from Nevada. Greg work s the third shift like Nesbitt and Laura is looking for a teaching job at the moment. Their oldest is 7 and the youngest is 4. They are pretty cool to hang with but I don't know how she has the patience to be the hangout house (hats off to Laura). As the week goes on, I will try to blog often. My laptop died so I have to use Nesbitt's.

Slipping

Okay, I am going to try to post something once a week. I have slipping. I will catch up this Sunday. So I am making Sunday my post night.

I am always picking up new projects. Here is the latest. I have other samples that I will post as soon as I perfect them.

SIDS

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is the unexpected, sudden death of a child under age 1 in which an autopsy does not show an explainable cause of death.
SIDS is most likely to occur between 2 and 4 months of age, and 90% occur by 6 months of age. It occurs more often in winter months, with the peak in January. There is also a greater rate of SIDS among Native and African Americans.

The following have been linked to an increased risk of SIDS:

•Babies who sleep on their stomachs

•Babies who are around cigarette smoke while in the womb or after being born

•Babies who sleep in the same bed as their parents

•Babies who have soft bedding in the crib

•Multiple birth babies (being a twin, triplet, etc.)

•Premature babies

•Babies who have a brother or sister who had SIDS

•Mothers who smoke or use illegal drugs

•Teen mothers

•Short time period between pregnancies

•Late or no prenatal care

•Situations of poverty

SIDS affects boys more often than girls. While studies show that babies with the above risk factors are more likely to be affected, the impact or importance of each factor is not well-defined or understood.

I fear this. I have with my girls and now I am struggling with my son. I cannot sleep for checking on him throughout the night. Chance works the third shift so CJ sleeps with me. I know that this is a habit that will be hard to break but I would rather struggle. I love my children with every breath of my life and I would die if anything happened to them. Every night, I pray so hard for the safety and shield of protection of my children. I went through a hard trial with Chance Jr. when he was in the womb. God prepared me for the journey that I am on now. I am accepting that HE prepared me with bedrest and that everything will be ok.

Chance Jr.'s Motif Blanket

I need to be asleep but I am up blogging. I just finished crocheting a pair of earrings. When I was on bedrest with Chance Jr. All I had was time to crochet. I crocheted this blanket for his beginner crawler stage. I got this patten from Lion Brand. I chose the bright color in hopes of stimulating his learning abilities (at least that is what I am hoping it will do).
